At today's meeting, the Executive Committee of the Bulgarian Football Union discussed the current situation in connection with the convened General Assembly on March 18, 2022 and noted the following:
1. The decisions adopted at the Extraordinary Congress on 12.10.2021 have been requested for entry in the Commercial Register. The registration was suspended until the end of the court cases filed in the Sofia City Court, challenging Congress decisions. These cases are awaiting a court ruling.
2. The President and the Executive Committee elected on 12.10.2021 have a term of 4 years, therefore the election of new ones, only 5 months after their election, and in the absence of circumstances that strongly justify the early termination of the term, is contrary to law and the Statute of the Bulgarian Football Union.
3. A case was instituted in the Sofia City Court at the request of a law firm to convene a congress on the same date - March 18, 2022, on which there is still no court ruling. An additional request was made for convening a congress on another date.
The BFU Executive Committee believes that since there are legal disputes both regarding the already held congress and the future one, the only correct action in this case is to wait for the decisions of the judicial institutions.
The Executive Committee strongly states that the responsibility for what is happening with regard to the BFU congresses and the creation of preconditions for dangerous weightlessness in football should be borne by the one who took the described actions to the detriment of the interests of both football clubs and football development.
In view of the above, the Executive Committee of the Bulgarian Football Union decided to cancel the convened General Assembly on March 18, 2022.
The members of the ExCo were also acquainted with the 4-year strategic framework for the development of Bulgarian football and the budget framework for the same period, developed jointly with UEFA.
